Qdos Freelancer Public Liability Insurance

Qdos Freelancer Public Liability Insurance will indemnify you for your legal liability for injury or death to third parties and damage to third party property as a result of negligent acts by you or your employees. The insurance will also cover third party costs and expenses. 

The cover is extended to include temporary employees provided the total number of days for such employees does not exceed 50 days during any one period of insurance.

Qdos Freelancer Employers' Liability Insurance

Qdos Freelancer Employers' Liability Insurance will indemnify you for your legal liability for injury or death to employees, including claimants costs and expenses. 

The cover is automatically extended to include temporary employees provided the total number of days for such employees does not exceed 50 days during any one period of insurance. 

Employers' Liability Insurance is compulsory for any business that has one or more employees whether they are permanent, part time or temporary. The only exception to this is if you are a ‘Ltd’ Company and you are the only employee and you own at least 50% of the issued share capital of the company. In this respect you are exempt from the need to purchase Employers' Liability Insurance. 

You should note that Qdos Freelancer Employers' Liability Insurance cannot be purchased in isolation and is only available where Qdos Freelancer Public Liability Insurance is purchased. 

Summary of Cover

Public Liability

Covers legal liability for injury or death to third parties and damage to third party property.

Extensions and Additional Benefits to the Public Liability cover include:

  • Cross liabilities
  • Legal costs and expenses at any coroners inquest or in any court of summary jurisdiction
  • Defective Premises Act liability
  • Legal defence costs for Health & Safety at Work etc. Act and Consumer Protection Act
  • Motor Contingent liability
  • Leased hired or rented premises
  • Contractual liability
  • Mechanical Plant as a Tool of Trade
  • Indemnity to Principal
  • Temporary Employees for up to 50 days

Employers' Liability 

Legal liability for injury or death to employees including claimant's costs and expenses with a limit of liability of £10,000,000.

Extensions and Additional Benefits to the Employers' Liability cover include:

  • Legal defence costs for Health & Safety at Work etc. Act 1974
  • Indemnity to Principal - Employees Unsatisfied Damages
  • Court Attendance Compensation
  • Temporary employees for up to 50 days (at least one permanent employee, manual or clerical as appropriate for the trade, must be covered for this extension to be applied)

Principal Exclusions/Conditions

Exclusions 

Hazardous Locations:

  • Docks, harbours, railways
  • Offshore or Petroleum Installations
  • Chemical or Petrochemical Works
  • Aircraft, airports or airfields
  • Collieries, mines or quarries
  • Power stations
  • Nuclear installations
  • Watercraft 

  • The lopping and felling of trees
  • Liability arising out of failure or advice or design of alarm and security installations 
    Professional advice and treatment for Professional Trades
  • £250 Third Party Property Damage Excess
  • £50 Tools and business equipment and transit excess, but increased to £100 in respect of glass and non ferrous metals and £200 for computer equipment
  • The first seven days in respect of the alternative accommodation extension under the Tools and Transit section
  • Theft of tools or business equipment from unattended vehicles overnight unless in a securely locked garage or alarmed vehicle with an approved alarm.
  • Theft of computer equipment from any unattended vehicle unless from a securely locked boot
  • Terrorism other than the minimum requirements of the law in the United Kingdom
